Your Summer Fitness To-Do List

Even though we’re all well past the summer vacation days of our childhood, the season’s devil-may-care attitude feels ingrained. Long days, warm breezes, lush landscapes call us outdoors to bask in the light and the air, lounge by the pool or read a novel under a tree. We play, we plan trips, we throw backyard barbecues, and the disciplined routine of our life during the other seasons of our year loses its pull. We find it easy to skip a workout here or there. A week or two might go by when you haven’t stepped inside Curves.

But when your workouts slide so does your fitness, your energy and the endorphin kick that lights up your mood and makes you feel good. Rather than let all the goodness slip away, make a commitment to continue faithfully following your fitness goals. Here’s how to make that happen.

Create a fresh, new summer activity plan.

It’s a new season so choose to do a new workout or a mix of new workouts. Curves offers a variety of options beyond the traditional circuit: Boxing; Balance; Body Basics: Arms, Core and Legs, and Dance and Tone.* New is motivating and good, even if it is more difficult.

Step lively.

If you’re a Curves Nutrition Program member with a goal of 10,000 steps a day—or even if you’re not—there’s no excuse for not meeting that goal. Summer is a perfect season for regularly scheduled group walks with friends in the early morning or evening, and for hikes on trails and through parks.

Make a date with your calendar.

Sit down with your paper or electronic calendar and mark the days and times when you will go to Curves and commit to these important appointments. Curves helps keep you healthy and happy!

Remember your travel pass.

Hitting the road or the skies this summer on your way to a beloved vacation destination? Be sure to ask the staff at your Curves club for a travel pass so you can visit a club near your vacation spot. You’ll be warmly welcomed and might make new friends!  You may even pick up a few local travel hints, tips, and suggestions for things to see and do.

Reward every win.

After every Curves workout or long walk, reward yourself. Steal 30 minutes to read your summer novel. Meet a friend for iced coffee or tea. Take a nice cool dip in the pool. Doing something nice for yourself after every accomplishment will help keep you coming back for more.

And remember, the days are longer and lighter now—you can push hard at Curves for good health and wellbeing and still have time for some carefree lollygagging.
